Together with performance collective URLAND, Innovation:Lab co-produces exec.DEUS: an immersive theatrical installation that explores belief, authority, ritual, and the growing influence of AI systems on human decision-making. Somewhere between confession booth, algorithm, and speculative performance, visitors enter a space where technology no longer behaves like a tool — but like an entity.
About exec.DEUS
At Innovation:Lab, we are interested in how emerging technologies reshape not only artistic form, but also human behaviour, ethics, and imagination. exec.DEUS fits directly within that research. The project investigates how generative AI, language models, and interactive systems can become performative actors inside a theatrical environment. The experience places audiences in direct conversation with an AI-driven system that listens, responds, questions, and judges. Through custom interaction design, spatial audio, and live-generated dialogue, the installation continuously shifts between intimacy and discomfort. Is the machine reflecting us back to ourselves, or constructing a new belief system entirely?
Innovation:Lab supports the project as co-producing partner and technological development lab. Together with URLAND, we explore how AI can move beyond automation and become part of dramaturgy itself: shaping narrative, timing, interaction, and audience experience in real time. The project operates as both artwork and experiment — a live test environment for new forms of storytelling in digital times.
About the Technology
For exec.DEUS, Innovation:Lab develops and researches a technological framework in which AI systems become active performers within the theatrical experience. The project combines generative language models, real-time interaction design, immersive audio, and responsive scenography to create conversations that are unpredictable, personal, and performative. Rather than using AI as a backstage tool, exec.DEUS places the technology at the center of the encounter — turning the machine into an actor, oracle, and mirror simultaneously.
