AI Storytelling System
In:space is a research and development trajectory in which we explore whether it is possible to build a system that allows theatremakers to create cue-based narrative structures on top of existing large language models. The aim is simple: give makers an intuitive tool to shape scene-by-scene dramaturgy with AI as a responsive layer.
About in:space
We investigate how AI can follow cues, shift tone, and adapt to live decisions while keeping the maker fully in charge of the story. in:space is our attempt to design a clear, accessible environment where technology expands imagination rather than dictates it.
Outcome of the experiment
In:space positioned us at the forefront of exploring AI in theatre. Working with makers, we examined how AI can enter the creative process without compromising artistic autonomy. The project allowed us to test and define standards for AI-driven creation, acting as a reference point for the field and shaping how theatre can engage with emerging technologies responsibly and creatively.
About the Technology
The system provides a curated set of tools—text-to-speech, speech-to-text, text-to-image—so makers can start creating immediately, whether a proof of concept or a full performance. By removing the need to navigate multiple models, the prototype creates space for experimentation and intuitive artistic choices. This foundation allows us to refine the system into a practical, artist-centered tool for storytelling.
